Steve Damerow, CEO of Incentive Solutions, a provider of sales incentive programs , channel incentive programs, incentive travel and employee reward and recognition programs, recently discovered an eye-opening article in the Wall Street Journal that told the story of Joyce Dumont, a 77 year old mother in North Dakota who took in, fostered and raised 69 children. He was so moved by the account of this mother’s selfless care for these children that he decided to start up a new initiative that rewards and recognizes deserving and exceptional people. They’ll be seeking individuals who give selflessly to those in need and give something back to them to honor the good they do in the world. The first recipient is Joyce Dumont.
Incentive Solutions is a company whose foundation is built on recognizing exemplary individuals and their accomplishments. They’ve decided that this philosophy shouldn’t be restricted to the walls of their office building and their clients. “We want to reward and recognize outstanding and deserving people outside of the business spectrum. Mrs. Dumont fits this mold perfectly,” says Mr. Damerow. Her local social workers say she’s exceptional because she has taken in many children who had nowhere to go, never turning away anyone in need. She opened her home to dozens of these children and maintains loving contact with all of them to this day. After reading this article, Incentive Solutions felt inspired, so they collected reward points from employees and presented them to her. She was then given access to their reward mall, where the points act as a currency, to redeem the points on anything she needed, which turned out to be a new refrigerator and an oven range!
Mr. Damerow also says that “There are over 1.5 million homeless children in the United States. It’s a problem that we must find a solution to. But until we do, we have wonderful people like Mrs. Dumont willing to give these children a place to call home and a family to call their own. After reading the article about her, we knew without a doubt that she deserved something special. People like Joyce should be recognized and we’re ecstatic to be able to do something for a true hero like her.”
The children of Mrs. Dumont wrote Incentive Solutions an email and said “Thank you for what you have done for our mother, Joyce Dumont. May God bless each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity. You brought joy to our day, warmth to our lives, and happiness to our hearts! Thank you!” Mr. Damerow says that “This makes everything we do worth it.”
