The Kitsap Sun discusses Harrison Medical Center’s new “Fresh Start” wellness program, which strives to put an emphasis on the importance of embracing a healthy lifestyle by eating right and becoming more active.

Harrison Medical Center provides its employees with practical advice aimed at promoting wellness. The program gives its participants information on convenient, low-cost ways of practicing a healthier lifestyle.

Grace Greenside, assistant director of dietary services who spearheaded the Fresh Start program, combined technology and the human touch when developing the program. The program offers its participants access to a virtual wellness center containing health management resources, a bulletin board allowing employees to find workout partners and a page featuring healthy recipes.

Wellness programs have significantly increased in popularity; more than 90 percent of the nation’s largest companies already have a wellness program in place or plan to incorporate one.
